5oo4 Candy

The perfect yoga pants do exist! When I’m doing yoga, I hate when the legs up the pants ride up super far. When I’m curled up on the couch in my yoga pants, I hate when the legs get all twisted and bunched. So, while I love the comfort of a nice, wide leg yoga pant, I have been meaning to hack a more slim fit one. Now I don’t have to!!!

So, if you’re looking for a slim leg, yoga pant with a leggings option, and a pocket, we’ll you’re looking for something very specific, but you have found it in 5 Out of 4 Candy!! Plus, there are multiple waistband options to choose from!! So you really can pick and choose to create your favorite pant!

For myself, I chose the full length yoga pant, with the side stripe and pocket (POCKET!!!), and the contour waistband. I like that the pattern includes so many different lengths, so you never have to guess where something should sit! I also really like that the long length is actually long enough for me (even though I’m 5’8″) because I know the fabric requirements will cover my needs!

When I make my next one, I think I’ll try capri length! It is hot here way to often to live in pants all year, even though I want to live in these. I’m pretty sure Virginia is going to want a pair first though. And Vicki will probably request one. Especially with the pocket option. Guess we’ll have to see who I decide to make time for. 😀

Let’s talk about fabric! This HP print is from Joann Fabrics and is so dang soft!!! I am completely in love with it. So soft and lovely to touch. Decent recovery, so I don’t end up with droopy knees and booty at the end of the day. I paired it with this killer cotton lycra from Fine Fabrics. It has hella recovery! And it is ridiculously soft!! Like, curl up in some yardage and die a happy human, soft! Hah! So, I also used it to make a top that matches! I used the X-Factor tank from 5 Out of 4 for this top and am completely in love! This one only goes up to 3x, so I hack it by using two of the gathered front pieces. This gives me the room this booty needs, while still fitting perfectly at the waist.

This outfit is definitely one of the first I’m reaching for after laundry day. I hope you enjoy the new 5oo4 Candy as much as I do! Be sure to grab it during the release sale!

5oo4 Lakeshore Tank

Tank tops, as a general term, are probably my most common sewn item. Both Virginia and I love wearing them. They’re easy for all weather, especially as a layering piece. So we can be work/event appropriate as needed, then lose some layers to get into sweltering cars or walk through that palpable humidity. Also, we are both about 5’8″ and blessed in the chest. All of this means tanks tend to be closer to a crop top than either of us prefer. This means making them is one of my favorite things because RTW tanks tend to be too short. Plus, they use such a small amount of fabric!

This means I’m always looking for fun, unique tanks to add to our closets! Oh boy is this a fun one!! It has a built in shelf, which is super easy to adjust for bust sizes if you need it. This constructions gives a really beautiful, clean finish to the front, which I completely love! There is extra elastic to help keep the shape and support. Plus, you have a couple options for height on the front, strap placement, and bottom finishes! I love options.

Overall, I’m pretty jealous of Virginia’s new tank and I’ll definitely need to make one for myself. We used this absolutely gorgeous blue double brushed poly from Sly Fox Fabrics and it is a stunning color. The DBP was super easy to work with and makes such lovely binding and straps, every dang time! Paired with some RTW shorts, I think she looks ready for just about any situation.

The entire ensemble was just perfect for wandering around Jekyll Island and looking good doing it! We had some overcast skies and drizzles throughout the day, then a complete downpour, but that came later. For our quick wade in the surf and exploration of the dunes (we found a protected turtle nest!!!), she was comfortable, cool, and looked damn good.

Basically, this is a wonderful edition to her closet, I’m going to steal it soon. Don’t tell. Grab your copy of the Lakeshore Tank and sew up ALL THE TANKS. Before summer ends.

TCCF Navy Daydreams

I already mentioned this fabric showing up by surprise. Can you say best surprise ever? Because this is right up there!!

Threaded Candy Customs cotton lycra base fabric is absolutely delightful. It is soft, has great recovery. They blow me away with the creativity in every round. And you know I love to nerd out with every new round announced! Right now, though, they have the summer round open. Every damn fabric is just so pretty. Happy and ready to take to the beach. If you’re looking for fun swim fabrics, check these out!!

This print is the Navy Daydreams. It is bright and happy and I completely love it. Such a vibrant, happy print that I plan to wear all summer long!!! (And probably pretty far into autumn.) Since it is perfect for summer, this clearly needed to be turned into tanks! One for me and one for the sister! Let’s talk mine first.

I am completely in love with the tie front tops right now. I want to fill my closet with them. Knit, woven. Fancy, casual. Don’t care. This tank is the Made for Mermaids Mama Ella. This is a great basic tank. Just fitted enough for funsies, without me feeling like a sausage. It has some super cute options included. A super low back that I haven’t been brave enough to try. Some fun ruffles and strappiness. And, most importantly, this adorable tie front!!

This cotton lycra is the PERFECT weight for this. Stable enough to hold up to the stretching and pulling of the tie without being boxy everywhere else. I feel great wearing it! I’m totally ready for beer gardens, chilling outside, and enjoying the summer sun.

On to Virginia’s tank. She adores the 5oo4 Jessie. It is one of her favorite shirts. She already has a couple and it is one of her most requested patterns. So I figured surprising her with a fun tank would make her happy. (Spoiler alert…it did!) I chose the low back option so I could add some fun strappiness!!

This particular option isn’t included in the pattern (though it does tell you to go nuts!) I took two straps, cut per the pattern and looped them through each other in the center of the scoop. So simple and so fun. Perfect for me to steal out of Virginia’s closet in a few weeks. 😀

Both of these tanks are exactly perfect out of this beautiful summer fabric. Is there one in this summer collection that strikes your fancy?
